Imagine a world where time is capital.This is the dystopian future of 2161 brought to film by Andrew Niccol’s In Time (2011). The review and comparison makes one question the common reflection that “everyone is busy, get over it and quit complaining” that has begun to be replayed by a few. In fact, it has made me think that “everyone is busy” is in fact a falacy that many of us, as teachers working in classrooms, are being fed so that we don’t question – reforms and non-reformers alike – and just do – or more precisely – follow what is being pushed at us without having the time or resources to see beyond the immediacy of what is happening because of the “busyiness” of “now”. Hmmmm…..
